Lake Arthur

Postby parker085 » Tue Jun 08, 2010 8:41 pm

Went to Lake Arthur on Saturday for a little while before the storms moved in to try out some new hand poured baits I made. Water temp was in the mid 70's and the fish seemed to be up pretty shallow, 2-3 feet. I caught most of my fish on green pumpkin stickbaits rigged weightless.

I went out on the boat yesterday. I managed 20 bass and 4 stripers. I found a school of fish, and in 14 straight casts I caught 12 bass and 1 striper. The other cast I had one on, but it got off. It was a blast!!!! Timmy

That sounds like a fantastic day on the water. I have never had a day like that at Arthur, but I have had a few schooling days like that at Wilhelm. Where the largies you caught red tails? I haven't been out lately but I hear the bite at Arthur has been off. Hoping to make it out this week.

Nice job Timmy! :D

I was out for most of the day on Saturday and only got 3 small bass. I spent most of my time up in muddy creek. Worked the trees with a jig and some senkos to get the bass I got.

I fished in the Basscasters Wednesday night tournament the other night. Caught a bunch of fish, 20ish i would say, but only had two rats to show for it. Most of my fish came beating the bank with 3/8 oz alewife spinnerbait or a Cream White colored 5" Senko rigged weightless.

Anyone else fish in the tourney? Do any good?

Ya a few red tails. I fished the tournament Wednesday too. We caught about 25 bass but only one about 2 1/2. Mainly wacky, senko, shaky head, beaver, and crankbait.

I haven't been getting the same quality of fish out there this year like I normally do. I seem to bet getting way more smaller fish then I have got in years past. From the results I can see there were some people who found them. Will have to make a few adjustment and see if I can find them this week.

Wait, so you're saying there are quality fish in the dead sea?

I was out on Saturday and got one around 3lbs on the old black n' blue jig out of the pads. Got a few more little ones but nothing too great. The fishing should start picking up out there soon.

I would just be happy to catch a few fish out there. I was out the other day and got one bass around 12".

I have a tough time catching many Largemouth out there. I tend to fish in shallow water most of the time around the weeds during the dusk bite until the Stripers come in. That had worked in the past for a few bass 2 or 3 at the most but this year that isn't working much at all. I use a lot of plastics. I don't really know where to fish for them out there in the deeper water. I have tried to bounce around the roadbed but never catch anything.
