The upper river is now open for paddle craft...we've removed sufficient blockages to make a float viable and safe. This reach is the stretch from just below Pymatuning State Park's (PA) dam down to Greenville's Riverside Park, about 8 miles. No portages. Class 1 flat water. Flush toilets at both ends.
Note this July 2, a 14 yr old boy caught a 32 lb Musky IN THE RIVER just below the dam...see the picture at the park h.q. near the dam. River has both bass species, crapppie, cats, and walleye (I wont' mention the carp and suckers as well).
Join us for PaddleFest 2011, a fun float on October 1 to celebrate the reopening. Free shuttle from Riverside Park (Greenville) back to put-in at Pymatuning Park (again, just below the dam). Shuttle from 9:00 a.m. till 10:00 a.m., free hot dog lunch at the finish. Fish or float...no RSVP necessary.
